Everything about travelling on ZeSIM

Getting started

Most phones released in recent years do — including iPhone XS and newer, Google Pixel 3 and newer, and many Samsung Galaxy models. The app checks your device before you buy, and the supported-device list is available in-app.

No. Your normal SIM stays in the phone and keeps working for calls and SMS. ZeSIM runs alongside it purely for mobile data, and you can switch data back at any time.

Yes — you can install it any time after purchase. It simply won't start using data until it connects to a network at your destination.

eSIM & devices

Yes. Most modern phones support Dual SIM, so your physical SIM and your ZeSIM eSIM can run side by side — keep your physical SIM for calls and texts on your home number, and use the eSIM for data while you travel.

No. Your existing SIM and number stay exactly as they are. ZeSIM only adds a second, data-only line — it doesn't replace or migrate your number.

Yes — that's exactly what it's built for. Once you land, your ZeSIM eSIM connects to a local partner network in that country, so you get local data speeds without a roaming surcharge from your home carrier.

Most modern phones can store several eSIM profiles at once — commonly 5 to 10, depending on the device and OS version — though usually only one or two can be active for data at the same time. Check your device settings for the exact limit.

Yes. If you've installed more than one eSIM — for example, plans for different countries — you can switch which one is active for data at any time from your phone's cellular or mobile network settings.

Look under Settings → Cellular/Mobile → Add eSIM on iOS, or Settings → Network → SIM manager on Android. The ZeSIM app also checks your device's compatibility automatically before you buy.

In most cases, yes — hotspot and tethering work the same way over an eSIM data connection as they do over a physical SIM, though support depends on your device and the local network operator for your plan.

No. Once installed, an eSIM profile is tied to that one device. If you need data on a second device, you'll need to purchase and install a separate ZeSIM plan for it.

Try increasing your screen brightness, cleaning your camera lens, or viewing the QR code from a second device. If scanning still fails, use manual installation instead — your activation details are available in the ZeSIM app.

It means that specific eSIM profile has already been installed on a device — yours or another one — and can't be added again. Each eSIM can only be installed once; if you need to reinstall it, contact support so we can issue a fresh profile.

Deleting a profile removes it from your device permanently, and any remaining data on that plan is lost and can't be recovered. Only delete a profile once you're finished using it.

You need an internet connection — Wi-Fi or another data source — to download and install the eSIM profile itself. Once it's installed, the eSIM provides its own mobile data connection, so no separate internet source is needed after that.

Yes. An eSIM uses the same GSMA-standard encryption and authentication as a physical SIM, and it's actually harder to physically remove, swap, or clone, since it's built into the device rather than a removable card.

Billing & top-ups

Your plan activates when the eSIM first connects to a network at your destination — not when you buy it. So it is safe to purchase days before you travel.

Top up the same eSIM from the app — no need to install anything new. Adding the same plan again extends your data; you will be warned in-app before switching to a different plan.

Unused, unactivated plans are refundable within 14 days. See our Refund Policy for the full conditions.

Using your eSIM

Only if you bought a regional or global plan — country plans only work in that single destination. The app shows which type you're buying before checkout.

Data access simply stops; there's no automatic renewal or surprise charge. You can buy a new plan any time from the app.

Account & privacy
